A great read, Anne Marie. Reality is so hard for the Dicks of the world. I'm guessing this one also haggled on the bill.

When it was an interstate move, what happened at the other end? Did you ever have to do the unpacking?

Yes! Dick refused to pay our bill because, after he moved, we removed the huge pile of dry-rotted boxes her had stashed in the attic. They were garbage. We did him a favor as the attic being full of garbage was not in line with the new owner’s purchase agreement. (The realtor asked us to get rid of them and then threatened Dick with a lien against the house if he didn’t pay our bill.)

I have empathy for the children that were raised in that home

Me too. There’s a reason the daughter moved 1,000 miles away.

This was hilarious, but a bit familiar. I am constantly battling a saver in the hopes to downsize this old house.

My parents are both savers Paul 😱

Godspeed my friend!

In all seriousness, “savers” typically have control issues and you will never win the battle until purging is THEIR idea! In my experience, most “savers” are more open to purging when they’ve hired a downsizer/organizer. When family tries to help the walls go up!

Yeah I’m totally outsourcing that when the time comes
